Richard Hobart of Pembroke, Ontario, Canada, visited the Maui Croquet Club, and a tournament was held in his honor. Paul Billings won the tournament by winning both games he played, and he completed his first tounament triple peel. Leo Nikora came in second having won two thirds of his games. Tim Wheeler won half his games, and came in third. Richard Hobart beat only one of the four club members he faced, placing fourth. Dick Karr was fifth.

The tournament was sanctioned by the United States Croquet Association (USCA), played on a three-quarter sized court, followed Advanced Association (International) Rules, used Sunshiny balls, limited games to two hours, and was directed by Leo Nikora. Uncharacteristically, a light rain that fell during one day of the tournament.

Richard Hobart is a member of the Eagle Mountain Croquet Club in Milton, Vermont, USA. The Maui Croquet Club enjoyed meeting Richard Hobart, and hopes he returns to Maui again soon.
