Stewart Jackson, Doug Grimsley, and Jerry Stark win USCA Eights.

The United States Croquet Association selected the top thirty two players in North America, and divided them into four sets of eight based on their strength of play. Advanced Association Rules were followed in four double round-robins. The first, second, and third eights were played to the peg, while the fourth eight played two-hour games. Winners were decided by games won, with no tiebreaking (although total net points are also shown below).

Stewart Jackson, Doug Grimsley, and Jerry Stark tied for first place in the First Eight. Johnny Osborn won the Second Eight. Trevor Herin won the Third Eight. Ed O'Laughlin won the Fourth Eight.

Tournament Director Jerry Stark wrote, "Well the 4th playing of the Selection 8s is history. I hope everyone enjoyed the week, I know I did even with the ups and downs of being TD and playing.

"I love the 8s event and like the endurance it takes to play 14 games over 4 days, and that for the top three 8s the game goes to the peg as it was intended. It was pretty impressive that the 4th 8 had 25 of the 56 games go to the peg with the 2 hour time limit, last year we had 8 games go to the peg. BIG IMPROVEMENT!!! I think this event is a good test of ones will and ability to stay focused for the entire time and fight for every game which was proved in some of the pegged down games. Next year I hope everyone that plays will plan their lunches with how things went for them this year. There are so many hours in a day and for this event most all of them are for playing unless you can finish your game earlier.

"Thanks again to Mike and Cynthia and also to Stewart and Josie for the dinners otherwise it would have been just croquet, croquet and more croquet!"

Mike & Cynthia Gibbons hosted a wonderful German dinner, complete with strolling accordion player, at the National Croquet Center on the first night. Stewart and Josie Jackson offered the players a barbeque dinner the second night, and a sumptuous buffet brunch on the last day, at the National Croquet Center.
